Save the Date and Formal Invitations

“First comes the save the dates; then comes the official wedding invitation”

Save the date cards are a great way to share the happy news with your friends and family members. In addition to announcing your good news, they also help set the tone for your wedding by incorporating your color scheme and/ or the theme of the wedding. These cards mostly do not include much information aside from the date, venue and the web address of the couple’s wedding site, if they have one. For destination weddings it is recommended to send them at least 8 months prior the wedding day, this way people are able to clear their calendars and join you in celebration.

Now for the formal wedding invitations these should state the wedding day, date, time, ceremony and reception venues and directions to these locations. Generally a response card is included, for which guests are asked to send back indicating whether or not they will be attending the special day. Some couple’s also give guests a meal choice that they also need to reply to their attendance response.
